The Red Thread of Fate 「運命の赤い糸 Unmei no Akai Ito」 is a Thread Magic spell.

DescriptionEdit

With an open grimoire, the user creates a cat from red thread.[1] By simply touching a target, the cat can change the outcome of an event to something more favorable for the user.[2][3] However, the cat only protects those about whom the user cares.[4][5] The cat also only reacts to direct attacks so the user and their allies can be transported, restrained, or indirectly attacked while the spell is active.[6][7][8]

Because it is made of thread, the cat can unravel to propel itself quickly[9] and to dodge incoming attacks.[10]

The spell drains a large amount of magic power as long as it is actively changing fates.[11]

TriviaEdit

  • In Chinese legend, the Red Thread of Fate is an invisible red thread that connects those destined to meet each other.
  • Vanessa has taken to calling the cat "Rouge" 「ルージュ Rūju」, which is French for "red".[12]
  • The cat ranked #25 in the first popularity poll and #54 in the second.
