Magic Knights vs. Lucifero is a fight that occurs in the ruins of the Spade Kingdom Castle.

Pre-Fight

The Ultra Black Bull punches Lucifero

After Lucifero opens the second gate to the Underworld, he combines all the remaining devils from the first and second levels into a giant monstrous for him to manifest into. As the devils begins pressing down everything in the surrounding area, the Black Bulls combine their magics to create the Ultra Black Bull from the remains of the Spade Kingdom Castle to fight the monster. Luck Voltia senses Yami Sukehiro and William Vangeance inside the monster and Nacht Faust realizes Lucifero has absorbed the Qliphoth ritual and that his manifestation can be stopped if they remove the captains. However, Lucifero's power continues rising to the point its Gravity Magic begin to tear apart the Ultra Black Bull. The Black Bulls remain undaunted, knowing Asta has flown to a nearby mountain where he draws the Demon-Slasher Katana. With the time limit over, Asta enters Unite and bisects Lucifero's vessel with Demon-Slasher: Infinite Slash Equinox, which neutralizes the Gravity Magic and frees the captive captains from their coffins without harming them.

Lucifero emerges

Half of Lucifero's split vessel falls towards the town surrounding the castle, but Yuno Grinberryall destroys it with Spirit of Euros before it can cause any damage. William and Yami are saved by Patolli and the Black Bulls respectively, but the reunion is interrupted when Andremelech, the Supreme Devil of the second floor, makes itself known and reveals Lucifero's Manifestation is half completed. The remain flesh of Lucifero's vessel compresses itself into a sphere from which Lucifero emerges from in an incomplete state. Lucifero immediately demands all bow before it and pins everyone to the ground with Gravity Magic before confronting Asta for interfering with the ritual.

Fight

Liebe remembers Lucifero as the one who killed Richita, but Lucifero doesn't care and slams Asta into the ground with gravity. Asta and Liebe reenter Unite and pursue Lucifero with four minutes remaining and are able to attack him with the Demon-Slayer Sword even when he tries to evade by distorting space. However, Lucifero effortless catches the sword with one hand, only getting a small cut on his finger. Infuriated, Lucifero punches Asta with enough force to send him crashing next to the remains of the Ultra Black Bull and begins crushing the Black Bulls with gravity just by getting. Asta tries to get up before he wastes his remaining time with Unite despite his injuries and the other Magic Knight captains—Mereoleona Vermillion, Nozel Silva, Fuegoleon Vermillion, Rill Boismortier, Dorothy Unsworth, Jack the Ripper, and Charlotte Roselei - come to his aid while Rill creates Twilight of Valhalla.

The Captains rally with Asta

Mereoleon and Jack attack first, but neither Fire Magic nor Slash Magic is able to harm Lucifero. The devil then sends Jack crashing into the ground, catches Mereoleona's next punch, and breaks her arm before punching her way. Nozel catches Mereoleona and tries to attack Lucifero with mercury spears, only for Lucifero to throw him to the ground. Fuegoleon lands a direct blast of fire with Salamander, but it fails to affect Lucifero who then slams Salamander into Fuegoleon. Dorothy's attempt to ambush Lucifero to send him to the Dream World and her magic is dispelled by Lucifero's sheer power. Rill and Charlotte are the next to be overpowered and Lucifero voices his disgust that humans would dare to fight him. Mereoleona tries to punch him again, only to be knocked back, but she and the other captains refuse to give up and shout that they were given the title of strongest. Asta then surprises Lucifero from behind.

Lucifero ducks out of the way of Asta's slash, though the Demon-Slayer sword narrowly cuts off one of his horn tips. Furious that his body was harmed, Lucifero slams Asta into the ground and begins brutally stomping him, knocking Asta out and canceling Unite. Asta is saved by Dorothy, Charlotte, and Mereoleona, and the captains focus on protecting Asta when they realize Anti-Magic is able to harm the king of devils. However, Lucifero defeats the captains one by one and destroys Twilight of Valhalla before moving to kill Asta. The devil tries to crush Asta with his foot, but Yuno teleports him out of the way just in time and sets him next to Mimosa Vermillion. When Lucifero tries to kill Asta again, Yuno teleports him and Mimosa away while he enters Spirit Dive and joins the fight. Even though Yuno is able to make contact with Spirit of Zephyr, he is unable to harm Lucifero due to a staggering difference in magic power. Mereoleona, still gaining magic from Hellfire Incarnate, returns and teams up with Yuno. While they fight, Mimosa tries to heal Asta but runs out of magic before she Asta just healed enough to stand and keep fighting. Despite his injuries, Asta moves to rejoin the fight

Lucifero's new form

Nacht appears to support Asta, knowing his Anti Magic is their tangible only hope of defeating Lucifero. Meanwhile, Yuno and Mereoleona stubbornly continue to battle against Lucifero despite being unable to damage him. Frustrated that he is unable to kill Asta, Lucifero orders Adremelech to help him, but the latter refuses. Mereoleona is defeated when her body reaches its limit and Yuno is sent crashing into the ground when he fails to block Lucifero's punch. Nacht then uses Canis × Equis and tries to restrain Lucifero long enough for Asta to attack, but the devil breaks free and try to kill Asta with a punch. Asta is saved when Nacht intercepts the blow and before Lucifero can kill Nacht with a follow up attack, his punch is blocked by Yami, wielding Mistilteinn Blade given to him by William. Lucifero pushes Yami back and tries to kill Asta again, but his punch is blocked by Zora Ideale and Secre Swallowtail, who combine their Trap Magic and Sealing Magic to absorb his blow and send it back at him at double power. However, Lucifero simply blocks the counter with another punch and breaks Zora's arm. Yami and Nacht then take over and combine their Mana Zone's to create Kids' Playground, , and thanks to the infinite synergy between Dark and Shadow Magic, it magnifies their magic enough to draw moderate blood from Lucifero with Dark Cloaked Deep Black Blade. After noticing the injury, Lucifero though furious, acknowledges that the humans have the potential to defeat him and vows to completely annihilate them with the full power of his incomplete form. As the devil transforms, Secre seals Asta's injuries and he and Yuno rejoin the fight.

Lucifero quickly demonstrates his form's power by easily ripping apart Kids' Playground with gravity. Asta then enters Unite with two minutes remaining, but the intense Anti Magic prevents his allies from supporting him. When he tries to use Infinite Slash Equinox again, Lucifero dodges it by warping space and goes in to kill Asta again, noting that while he's the most dangerous threat, he's by far the easiest to kill. Yami stops him with his sword, but discovers he is unable to harm Lucifero anymore. Lucifero then crushes Yami's arm with gravity, forcing Yuno to teleport him to safety. Knowing they can only provide a supporting role in the fight, Yuno and Nacht they try to decide who should be the focal point: Asta or Yami. When the devil tries to do the same to Nacht, Asta nullifies the gravity magic, only for Lucifero to break his knee with a kick. Yuno then teleports in front of Lucifero and attacks with Spirit of Boreas, but it shatters against Lucifero's fist. Despite the failed attack, Yuno manages to place stars on Lucifero's left and right, betting it all on Yami while Lucifero prepares to kill whoever comes from either direction.

The king of devils defeated

Instead of using the stars to teleport, Nacht uses the shadow made from their light to attack from below alongside Yami with Doppelganger. However, Lucifero transforms his upper wings into arms he uses to impale the two and once again tries to kill Asta. On the verge of being killed, Asta witness Liebe's memories, which allows them to synchronize their thoughts and goals and achieve a complete form of Unite. After Lucifero's punch is blocked by the Demon-Slasher Katana and Asta grabs his wrist, the devil realizes Asta is now negating the magic in anything he touches and fail to harm Asta with a barrage of punches. Asta then cuts Yami and Nacht free and kicks Lucifero away with five seconds of Unite left. Lucifero attempts to hinder Asta with rubble and kill him with another punch, but when the attack fails, he realizes Asta is the child of Richita. In the final seconds of Unite, Asta dismembers Lucifero by cutting off his horns, limbs, and body until only his upper torso remains. After Unite times out, Asta and Liebe stand over the crippled devil.

Unable to accept his is losing to those without magic, Lucifero goes mad and tries to crush Asta and Liebe with gravity. Before he can kill them, Nacht and Yami appear through their shadows and neutralize his gravity. When Asta is able to stand up again, Lucifero becomes frightened and tries to flee, shouting he will return and crush them with his full power. However, Yuno uses a star to teleport Lucifero right below Asta and the former smashes the Demon-Slayer sword down on the king of devils. The blow destroys the last of Lucifero's horns and knocks the devil unconscious, as Adremelech compliments them for achieving an impossible victory .

Post-Fight

Adramelech steals Lucifero's heart

Asta and Liebe collapse from exhaustion and Adremelech flies down and stares at them. Instead of attacking, Adremelech extracts Lucifero's heart, causing devil's remains to disintegrate and flies off. Yuno realizes that Yami and Nacht are going to die from their wounds. He teleports Mimosa to them for healing, but both she and Grey are out of magic and their injuries are too severe to heal. A frantic Charlotte runs over to Yami and pleads for him not to die, confessing her feelings aloud in the process. Rouge sends a thread into the rubble of the Ultra Black Bull, causing the entire squad to fly out through one of Finral's portals and feed Mimosa Charmy Pappitson's magic recovering food. With her magic restored, Mimosa is able to heal Yami and Nacht's wounds with Flower Princess Utopia. Mimosa heals Asta next and Yami officially passes on his katana to him. Meanwhile, Adremelech delivers Lucifero's heart to Lucius Zogratis, who had orchestrated the entire conflict to obtain the heart.
