The Demon-Dweller Sword 「宿魔の剣 Shukuma no Tsurugi[1] is an ancient Anti Magic Weapon.[2] Asta finds the sword in a hidden room within a dungeon treasury.[3]

Description

The sword is summoned out of an opened grimoire, inside which it is stored in the form of writing.[4] The user can easily summon the sword at will without consuming any magical power.[5]

The sword has black markings on the blade and is mostly covered in dirt. The sword also has a heavily ornate hilt with a four-sided guard, a grip with a spiral design, and a sphere for the pommel.[3] The sword is capable of cutting magic with its edges and absorbing other people's magical power.[6][7] However, when it is used to cut anything else, it is reduced to a blunt sword that uses blunt trauma to inflict damage on the opponent.[8]

The sword glows with Noelle's magic.

The sword's original ability is to absorb spells and then to release that magic in a flying slash.[9] After the sword has absorbed a certain amount of magical power, the black markings on it start glowing with a color corresponding to the absorbed magic attribute. At that moment, when the user swings the sword, it unleashes magic with similar properties as the absorbed magic attribute.[10][11] Alternatively, it is also capable of being filled with Anti-Magic, releasing flying slashes composed entirely of anti-magic energy. [12]

Another ability the sword possesses is connecting the wielder to their allies. With this ability, the wielder could draw magic power from their allies over a large distance[13] or could transmit magic and information to their allies.[14][15]

It has been noted that the sword passively absorbs any magic in the vicinity, including the user's, and is immensely heavy. These two factors make it a weapon that only those with no magic power or an extreme amount of magic power could hope to wield effectively.[16] This ability can be used offensively. If the sword is thrust into a mage, the sword begins to drain the victim's mana and enhancements.
