Scarlet Battle Begins 「開戦の緋 Kaisen no Hi」 is the 38th chapter of Tashiro Yumiya's Black Clover Side-Story: Quartet Knights.
On the day of the Crimson Moon at the Eye of the Midnight Sun's hideout, Licht meets with Freese and comments about how it seem that he has not slept much. Freese tells Licht to not sound so overfamiliar with him and explains that he is only working for them because of their common interests. Freese also tells Licht to not give him order, since he could have already sent them to that era. Licht thinks about how Freese's body cannot control mana anymore. Licht also thinks that Freese has lost his common sense and wonders if its the effect of that magic tool. Licht figures that everything inside Freese is already over. Freese comments about the nobles who humiliated him and the Clover Kingdom are just going to have to wait.
Valtos arrives and tells Licht that the preparations have been finished. Valtos says that they have brainwashed the Magic Knights behind him, and that they are ready to go at anytime. Vetto proclaims that it will not go down the same way as in the dungeon and that this time he will show them true despair. Fana says that its finally time to kill those meddling humans. Licht thanks Valtos and says that they will be going. Licht says that they will fulfill their dearest wish now, and proclaims that they will provide adequate punishment for the humans.
At the Clover Castle, Julius Novachrono sees the moon and says that the crimson moon is here and that the enemy is coming and drawing nearer. Julius looks at the Magic Knights standing behind him and comments about how everything has been prepared.
The two groups comment about how they will conclude everything throughout the night of the Crimson moon.
