This devil resides within Licht's former grimoire, which is currently Asta's grimoire.[1] It is the source behind Asta's Anti Magic.[2]
Appearance
The devil is a tall, black figure with two bat-like wings, two ram-like horns, a long thin tail, and pointed teeth. Its fingers and toes are clawed, and its hair is wavy.
During the Devil-Binding Ritual, the devil takes on an appearance resembling Asta: messy, light-colored hair and a short stature. Most of its body is coated in black; a black line extends up its chest to under its chin, while two lines cross over its eyes. It has its two horns and the right arm it took from Asta.[3]
Personality
The devil mocks Zagred.
The devil is so far portrayed as disrespectful and sadistic. It mockingly refers to another devil, Zagred, as its senior, while also ridiculing its brethren's loss with a sneer.[4]
It desires a physical body connected to the five-leaf clover grimoire.[2] The devil's presence is also intimidating, as individuals, including Asta himself, shudder whenever they sense it.
It has a unique way of laughing, Ge-ge-ge 「ゲゲゲ」.[5]
Biography
Sometime after Licht's corruption and death, the devil enters the elf's five-leaf clover grimoire.[6] Centuries later, the grimoire appears to Asta, who uses the devil's Anti Magic to defeat Revchi Salik.[7]
When the Witch Queen removes Asta's limits on Anti Magic, the devil tries to take over Asta's body. It tries to convince the boy to give up and let it control his body, but Asta refuses and instead draws on the devil's power to create his black form.[2]
Months later, the devil mocks Zagred after he is slain by Asta.[4]
The devil makes a bargain with Asta.
After Dante Zogratis beats down the berserking Asta, the devil is outraged and wants to kill Dante.[8] When Asta and Yami Sukehiro's combined efforts fail to stop Dante, Asta asks for the devil's help. The devil agrees in exchange for Asta's right arm[9] and warns Asta that his body will only handle 50 seconds' worth of its power.[10] During the fight, Asta's swords are all taken away so Yami passes his katana to Asta. The devil's arm imbues it with Anti Magic, and Asta successfully slashes Dante.[11] When Zenon Zogratis arrives shortly after and captures Yami, Asta asks the devil for power, but the devil refuses since Asta's body is too weak.[12]
Nacht summons the devil out of Asta.
The next day, Nacht, another devil host, takes Asta to a secret chamber so that Asta can make a contract with the devil. As part of the ritual, Nacht summons the devil from Asta, which causes Asta's right arm to disappear. The devil is surprised that Asta would willingly release it. Nacht then tells Asta that he must fight the devil and win.[13] Instead, Asta thanks the devil for its help. The devil mocks Asta and summons the Demon-Slayer Sword. While Asta watches in shock, the sword smashes the ground next to him and then slaps him away. The devil threatens to take all of Asta's body.[14] Next, the devil swings the sword and destroys one of the pillars of skulls. Nacht warns Asta that the devil will kill him, but Asta senses the devil's ki and notes that it is not filled with killing intent. The devil agrees with Nacht that all devils do not have good hearts, but Asta rejects that notion, which reminds the devil of a woman.[15]

Magic
- Anti Magic: The devil uses this unique energy to nullify magic.[16] By manipulating the Anti Magic in the Demon-Slayer Sword, the devil is capable of summoning the sword out of the grimoire and controlling it remotely, as well as enlarging the blade with an Anti Magic coating.[17]
